Extend the flying envelope by adding power to your aircraft. The Powered Paragliding(PPG) conversion course is a four-day course and requires a Basic Paragliding license, a Restricted Radio Certificate and your own equipment. The course consists of online lectures and some self-study to pass the PPG Theory Exam and three days of flight training from a suitable field. Additional training hours can be booked should requirements not be met during the course days.
Completed a minimum of 3 hours airtime during the course.
Complete 3 forward inflations with visual canopy check each time followed by launch
Complete 3 controlled reverse inflations with proper surge dampening followed by launch
Pass Powered Paragliding theory test.
Two power-on landings within 5 meters of a target and into the wind.
Five power-off landings within 15 meters of a target and into the wind.
Completed a minimum of 10 flights during the course.
Pass Practical assessment including pre-flight checks.
Successfully plan and execute an out-and-return flight.
We can facilitate and advise on equipment acquisition where ever needed with an objective to fulfil each individual pilot’s situation and ambition. All equipment must be approved by the instructor. We endeavour to give the best advice under circumstances but since the final decision rests with the pilot, I can not be held liable for injury, loss or damage caused by the use of any equipment. The following minimum PPG equipment is required to participate in the Powered Paragliding conversion course:
Powered Paraglider wing suitable for PPG training.
Reliable Power unit/paramotor for the pilot’s weight.
PPG helmet with correct aviation headset for Airband communication.
Handheld Airband transceiver with SACAA permit.
A suitable fuel container and the correct two-stroke oil.
